Film Night
Mon, 20.09.10 TBC
Where?
Please email Anuradha for details.
Our monthly Film Night has become one of BWN’s most popular evening activities.
By vote, we select an English language movie that shows as “original version” (i.e. that has not been dubbed into Spanish) at an easy-to-reach Barcelona theatre.
We typically shoot for an early evening start time, meeting c. 19:30-19:45 at the theatre so that everybody can individually buy her ticket before the show starts. Often, many of us join up for a drink or dinner afterwards. And the popcorn & shake during the movie are anyway optional!
Cost
Pay-your-own-ticket.

Who Is In Charge
Alejandra Ruiz, President.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)Five. This is the number of times that I have relocated “permanently” from abroad to Barcelona during my life. My last arrival was on New Year’s Day 2008, as a Colombian-born full-time mother with a German husband, a US American son, and, by now also, a Spanish daughter. Ever since that day, BWN has turned out to be a blessing in little disguise: I have met people that have similar backgrounds, share common interests, and face the same challenges. I have always had access to somebody who gave me – or who needed from me! - a great tip, a useful phone number, a reliable contact, or just a good time! BWN immediately makes anyone feel at home – whether one plans to stay “permanently” or only for a while, whether one arrives here for the first time … or for the fifth. |

Sanja Christie, First Vice-President.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)I was born in Serbia, Belgrade but lived most of my adult life in London, UK. Moving to Barcelona in July 2007 was a big change for me, my husband and our daughter. Meeting so many lovely people via BWN was a life line which I am grateful for. I never thought that so many wonderful friendships with people of different origins and age could be made so quickly and lasting for such a long time. My son was born in Barcelona last year and became part of BWN from the day number one! I left my professional life in Banking to find enjoyment in philanthrophy, music and singing for children, and cooking. |
Amanda Greene, Second Vice-President.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)Originally from New York City, I spent most of my life in Australia, Hong Kong and, more recently, Boston. Four years ago I moved to Barcelona to fulfil my dream of living in Europe. I joined the BWN in 2008 and from day one found it to be a welcoming supportive and friendly group of international women. It has been an indispensable tool for settling into -and continuing to live in- this city and, of course, for making new friends.

Cristina Freeman, Secretary.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)I was born in Madrid but grew up and lived most of my adult life in the United States. After living in Barcelona between 2000 - 2003, my husband, two boys and I returned here in 2009 to "settle", at least for several years. The BWN has been a fantastic way to rediscover and reconnect with this beautiful city and build new friendships. |

Cristina Vallet, Treasurer.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)I was born in Barcelona and lived here until my Senior Year of High School, which I spent in the US. Following my time in the US, I returned to study a Business degree at the American University in Barcelona. Having graduated, I worked in marketing and as a management consultant, and completed a Management Development Program (PDD) at Spain's leading business school, IESE. I met my English husband and moved to London for about six years, returning to Barcelona in 2006. We have two wonderful children who occupy most of my time. I also do some translation work and help with various charities. BWN offers a great opportunity for me to remain in a truly international environment whilst living in my home city, the best of both worlds! |
