What We Do
Monthly
Meeting, Eating and Drinking
Coffee Morning - second Thursday of every month at one of several locations in Barcelona. Occasionally Coffee Mornings are held at locations outside the city These meetings give members and those interested in joining the BWN a chance to meet each other, hear about and sign up for forthcoming events and learn more about the BWN. Coffee Mornings are always followed by an inexpensive "menu del dia" at a nearby restaurant. Cost usually under 12 euros plus tax.
Evening Drink - usually the first Tuesday of each month. Meet for an early evening drink in one of Barcelona’s many wonderful bars. All members and prospective members welcome, especially those unable to attend events during the day.
Monthly Lunch - third or fourth Wednesday of every month. Another chance to meet and chat over a cheap and delicious menu del dia in a restaurant or Museum Café in Barcelona.
Monthly Dinner - either a "Cheap and Cheerful" dinner for approx 25 euros or, for those who want to spend a little more, a Gourmet Dinner. All the restaurants we choose for these events have been tried and recommended by BWN members. Partners and friends are welcome to join us at these dinners.
Professional Networking
Usually the last Thursday evening of the month. An opportunity for those who belong to the BWN’s Professional Networking Group to meet over tapas and a drink, sometimes with a Guest speaker.
Speaking Spanish
Last Friday of every month. Come and join an informal group led by a fluent Spanish or Catalan speaker and practise your language skills. There’s a theme for discussion and the meetings take place at various locations around the city.
Movie Mornings/Evenings
Once a month. Meet BWN members, see an "Original Version film" in English , have lunch or a drink afterwards and talk about the film.
Outings and Cultural Events
Every third Wednesday of each month there is an organised outing to visit somewhere in or around Barcelona. Recent visits include a trip to the mountain of Montserrat, a guided tour round the Modernista buildings of nearby Reus and a visit to the Freixenet cava makers. There are also regular visits to museums and galleries in Barcelona.
Weekly
Mother and Toddler
BWN’s Mothers and Toddlers group gives young children a chance to play and mothers a chance to foster friendships and trade valuable information on life in Barcelona with children. Weekly Wednesday morning get-togethers include free play and sing-along time (with songs in English.) Babies, toddlers, mothers and other caregivers welcome. On a more informal basis members organize "mum’s night out" for a chance to wine, dine and talk.
Tuesday Morning Walks
Walk, talk and enjoy the wonderful views across Barcelona from high above the city on the Carretera de las Aigues.
Other regular activities include
Cookery classes
BWN has many talented professional and non-professional chefs who offer cooking classes for which a fee will be charged.
Visits to Barcelona’s many food markets
There are food markets in almost every "barrio" of Barcelona, every one packed with delicious fresh produce. But for those who speak little or no Spanish, they can be daunting. These visits will give you the know-how and the vocabulary to go shopping with confidence.
