She builds strong relationships with her clients: "Cynthia provided me with invaluable guidance and resources in adjusting to the business environment here in Barcelona. While other ex-pat business colleagues complained of their frustrations and lonliness, I found myself with a newfound and growing curiosity and openness that has changed the way I listen and communicate with my team. And the results are reflected in higher productivity and performance. These are skills that I’ll be able to use for the rest of my life in all my relationships.(management consultant in Spain for an American-based IT company)" "I’ve done some important work around developing new habits that help me bring more openness and passion to my work—going with my heart rather than just my head and feeling tremendously empowered by that. Brief description of the business:
Catalyst for clarity, change, and goal achievement. I’m passionate about helping people get very clear on their vision for their ideal career/vocation and life and helping them create a plan to get there, including job search strategies, CV writing, interviewing skills, etc. I coach men and women who are looking for a change from their current careers, want more fulfillment from the careers they have, are in transition or in-between jobs/careers, want to better balance work and life, and stay-at-home moms wanting to reenter the workforce. I coach in English and Spanish and offer a no-obligation sample session.
Business address:
Why and when I did start my business:
While completing an internationally accredited coaching program in Paris, France, I began coaching professionally in January 2007 after several relocations in succession to follow my husband's amazing job opportunities and promotions. While I was thrilled for my husband's successful and fulfilling career and the opportunity to discover new places and learn new languages, I was finding it very difficult to get ahead professionally as we were never in one place long enough. I already at that point had 12+ years of experience in human resources management and consulting for large global companies and had been coaching for quite some time in these capacities and had always loved this aspect of my professional experience. So coaching came to me in a flash of insight as a natural extension of my experience, of what I love to do, and of who I am. And as coaching is extremely flexible and can be done remotely via telephone and internet/webcam (as well as in person if my clients and I are in the same city), it was my answer to continuing my professional journey without having to disrupt it with chronic relocations. My office is now virtual and I have clients in different locations in the U.S., the Netherlands, France, Spain, and China. I am also the approved career coach for Columbia University's MBA Alumni in Europe, and I have an MBA myself from a top-tier business school. It is the perfect vocation for a serial expat such as myself who loves to help people find their path to fulfillment and has expertise to share around careers, business, expatriate and cross-cultural issues.
This is my target market or audience:
Men and women from 25 years of age and up with energy and drive who are looking for more fulfillment in their vocational lives.
How I would like to see my business change in the future:
For the moment I am pleased with how things are going and am loving every minute of it! Perhaps in the near future it would be interesting and enjoyable to create and conduct some group workshops, also some group/team coaching work in combination with some organizational consulting work.
My advice to other BWN members which want to start a own business:
A great idea and a dream need solid basics, organization and planning to become a reality: don't hesitate to seek out expert advice for financial and legal matters, business plan creation, investor funding, etc. Then, GO FOR IT!!
My biggest business achievement:
Finding my heart's vocation and starting my coaching business; taking a chance and striking out on my own.

Why and when I did start my business:
Company incorporated in June 2005, gallery opened in November 2005
This is my target market or audience:
People who collect art, for enjoyment, investment or both. The same applies to the furniture and decoration items. As well as end users, the gallery also works with interior designers.
How I would like to see my business change in the future:
I would like the contemporary art section of my business to grow with more international clients and growing list of artists. I would like to known not on in Spain but also in the international art world.
My advice to other BWN members which want to start a own business:
Get involved in something that you really like - because its hard work and that becomes easier to do if you love what you are doing. Dont be worried if you have never run a business before - you have to start somewhere! This may seem a trivial thing to say - but I assure you its true.

This is my target market or audience:
Individuals who don´t have time to prepare their own curries, supermarkets and delicatessens, catering companies, restaurants and hotels.
How I would like to see my business change in the future:
We are only one year old and still small, we need to expand within Barcelona (in more delicatessens, restaurants, etc) and beyond Barcelona - we are actively looking for agents to represent us throughout Spain.

Don´t get discouraged if things don´t work out at the beginning. It takes an amazing amount of time to get a product established and profitable.
