Brief description of the business:
MumAbroad is a fully comprehensive, interactive website for parents from the International Community living in or visiting Catalunya. It offers information on everything from health, education and childcare to child-friendly shops and restaurants. There is also a section on day-trips, travelling with kids in Spain and visiting Barcelona with the family. For stressed out mums, we are offering information on pampering packages, spas and alternative therapies. We keep everyone up to date on family events in their area and relevant news items. There is a busy forum where people can ask advice and make recommendations as well as buy and sell their goods. There is also an interactive section with news articles and interviews with experts and resident mums. MumAbroad also opertates in the Costa Blanca and Madrid.

Why and when I did start my business:
February 2007. There is a big gap in the market for information on family friendly activities, services, shops and restaurants. Given we both have children and know many others in a similar situation, we decided to set up the business.
This is my target market or audience:
All parents and children from the International Community living in Catalunya and families travelling to Catalunya from abroad
How I would like to see my business change in the future:
We have recently expanded to the Costa Brava and Madrid and next up is Mallorca

Research your market well and work out where the gap in the market is
