Brief description of the business:

As someone who?s been there and understands global life and work, Cynthia specialises in cross-cultural business and personal coaching, inspiring her clients to embrace and use the richness of cultural diversity as a resource in meeting the challenges of their multicultural and global business environments and achieving high performance and high fulfilment--wherever they are in the world.

Business address:

Via Augusta 76 (3/1)
Barcelona
08006

Why and when I did start my business:

Cynthia started her professional life working for book publishers in New York city, including Harper-Collins and Prentice-Hall, before moving on to a career in international public health, working for international public sector organisations, most notably the United Nations in NY and Geneva. She switched from international development work to coaching, believing that helping individuals lead richer and more fulfilling lives is a more direct way for her to contribute to a better world.

This is my target market or audience:

Her clients have included individuals and companies based in various countries, including the USA, the UK, Spain, the Middle East, Africa, and South America. She builds strong relationships with her clients: "Cynthia provided me with invaluable guidance and resources in adjusting to the business environment here in Barcelona. While other ex-pat business colleagues complained of their frustrations and lonliness, I found myself with a newfound and growing curiosity and openness that has changed the way I listen and communicate with my team. And the results are reflected in higher productivity and performance. These are skills that I?ll be able to use for the rest of my life in all my relationships.(management consultant in Spain for an American-based IT company)" "I?ve done some important work around developing new habits that help me bring more openness and passion to my work?going with my heart rather than just my head and feeling tremendously empowered by that. And more success as a business leader has naturally followed.(business entrepreneur and founder of a product marketing and distribution company worldwide)" Cynthia is fluent in English and Spanish and has lived and worked in New York, Geneva, London, and Barcelona, where she is currently based.

How I would like to see my business change in the future:

All happening according to plan and much more. I?d love for more and more people to experience the life transforming benefits of coaching!

My advice to other BWN members which want to start a own business:

Stay focused, patient, and positive. It?s usually hard work for the first couple of years, but the eventual payoff in terms of fulfilment is priceless. It's essential to find support.

My biggest business achievement:

Cynthia?s training and development as a coach includes practitioner and master level certification in neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) and NLP coach training. She is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with the International Coach Federation (ICF) and is working toward Master certification. She is also an Associate Executive Coach with the Ken Blanchard Companies in San Diego, Ca. (Leadership and the One-Minute Manager). She is also co-author of a book chapter on business leadership coaching, ?The Business Leader as an Incurable Deviant,? in Walking in Two Worlds, Steven Gilligan (ed), (Phoenix: Zeig, Tucker, & Theisen), 2004.
